Background Battling in Epic Seven

Background Battling is the 8th anniversary offline farm. Before 27 August 2026 you could repeat Hunt in the background only while the client stayed open. The INFINITY client keeps running after you close the app. Duration is your real clear time, not a fake instant. You can queue a large Leif stack — showcase math was up to 100 Leifs, about 400 Hunt repeats if your clear is fast enough. Auto-sell and auto-extract from the Hunt result screen apply to those repeats. That is the entire feature. It is not a new Hunt. It is a queue on top of the Hunt you already built in the Hunt guide.

The Battle Pet gate

The queue only tracks your fastest clear with a Battle Pet equipped. No pet, no honest timer, no offline pile. Equip the pet before you start the one real clear that becomes the ghost. Then register Leifs. If you swap the pet off to dress a lobby skin, the next registration can silently use a worse time. Check the pet slot every time you restock.

PC and mobile share the same queue once the account is linked. Steam’s later-2026 client is supposed to behave like STOVE PC. Do not start a 100-Leif stack on a guest phone you are about to factory reset.

Filters before you sleep

Offline farming without filters is how you wake up to a bag of 40 Speed leftover boots. Set auto-sell and auto-extract on the Hunt result screen before you queue. Extract boots and necklaces you might still roll. Sell junk Attack-set rings from Wyvern if you already have Speed. The gear score page is the threshold list. Background Battling will obey whatever you left checked, including a 10-score floor that deletes a 20-Speed boot.

Otherworldly Hunt is the better drop table once you can enter it. Queue that, not classic Wyvern 13, unless you still need the first Speed set. Energy is the same Leifs either way.

What Background Battling will not do

It will not play Arena. It will not clear Abyss. It will not spend Covenant bookmarks. It will not pick Fate in Call of Chaos. It will not run Dimensional Exploration when that mode ships. It only repeats the Hunt (or similar repeatable PvE) you registered. If the clear you recorded was a 4-minute struggle with a dead healer, you just scheduled 400 minutes of struggle. Record a clean team first.

Friend gifting and PC hotkeys arrived in the same patch. They are unrelated. Do not look for a hotkey that starts Background Battling from the desktop; open the Hunt screen, register, close the app.

A safe first queue

1. Build the Ice Wyvern core from starters until one clear is comfortable.
2. Equip a Battle Pet. Record that clear.
3. Set auto-extract on Speed boots / high-score pieces. Set auto-sell on everything below your floor.
4. Register 10 Leifs, not 100. Confirm mail and bag when you come back.
5. If the bag looks right, scale up. If it sold a boot you wanted, fix the filter before the next 90 Leifs vanish.
6. Park Gold Transmit Stones. Background Battling does not pull banners for you — summons still need a human.

The 8th anniversary notes stamp the client date. Gear explains why Speed still wins. This page is only the offline button and the way it can delete a week of drops if you queue angry.

When Steam’s client lands later in 2026, the same pet-and-filter rules apply. Linking does not clone a queue in flight. Finish or cancel before you swap devices.
