Epic Seven Abyss Floors

Abyss is the vertical PvE climb: one floor, one boss script, one chest. It is not Hunt. Gear helps, but the floors that stop new accounts are almost always a mechanic — reflect, extra bosses, unbuffable, a CR trap — not a missing 30 Attack. Treat Abyss as a puzzle you solve with a small roster, then leave when the puzzle wants a unit you have not built. The PvE tier list ranks who is worth that build. This page is how to spend entries without burning a week on floor 92.

Finish getting started far enough to own Connections units and a Hunt cleanser before you live in the Abyss lobby. The starter heroes list is the free toolbox: Angelica / Angelic Montmorancy, Furious, Alexa, Kiris, Ras, Montmorancy’s Specialty Change, Commander Lorina later. Iseria from Selective is the strip / reset that turns several mid floors from “rng wipe” into “slow clear.”

How Abyss pays you

Each floor is a one-time clear plus a smaller repeatable if the mode offers it. Early floors pay gold, charms, catalysts, and the kind of 5-star tickets / MolaGora that actually move an account. That is why you push the easy stretch instead of sitting on floor 20 while you “finish the banner.” It is also why you stop when a floor is asking for a second built DPS you do not have. The next ten floors are not worth a rage-quit; Hunt still prints the Speed sets Abyss wants.

Challenge / extra Abyss modes exist beside the main tower. They reuse bosses with tighter scripts. Do not enter those until the main floor is done. The main tower is the one with the account-defining chests.

The small roster that actually climbs

2026 new-account clears through the 90s are routinely done with about five built units plus gear swaps, not with a 40-hero box. A typical core:

  • Cleanser / healer — Angelica, Angelic Montmorancy, Destina, or Tamarinne if you own her. Tamarinne is the PvE engine: attack buff, CR, cleanse. If she is in the box, she is on this team.
  • Defense break + strip — Iseria. Fast. Song of Stars if you have it. Effectiveness around 55% for most mid-tower bosses (boss ER minus the 15% absolute resist).
  • Single-target damage — Sigret, Alexa, Commander Lorina, or a Hunt DPS already in Daydream Joker.
  • Poison / specialtyKiris still deletes a shocking number of floors that look like “gear checks.” Effectiveness, keep her alive, let poison tick. People who skip her spend three extra hours on floors she was printed for.
  • Flex — Ruele of Light or another revive if Moonlight Blessing went that way; Furious for extra break; a second AoE for add phases (Bellona).

You do not need four Hunt sets. You need one decent Speed / HP pile you can move between Tamarinne, Iseria, and the flex. 2026 New Era guides that clear 91–100 on five units do exactly that: Milestone of Radiance shop Speed/Health on Tamarinne, the same set on Briar Witch Iseria or Ruele depending on the floor, and the current free-unlock unit on her story gear. If you do not own those names, substitute the starter list — the method is the gear swap, not the collab unit.

Mechanics before damage

Read the floor tooltip. Then fight it once on auto to see the script. Then turn auto off.

Recurring patterns:

  • Front-row punishment — same as Wyvern. Put the bulky healer in slot one.
  • Adds that must die first — Charles-style floors (the 90s have one that is just a long add fight). Click the spawn. The boss can wait.
  • Reflect / no non-attack skills — some floors punish S3 spam. Basic-attack for a stretch, then burst when the window opens.
  • Effect Resistance — your Effectiveness goal is boss ER minus 15. 55% covers a lot of the tower. 100% Effectiveness is almost never the requirement; it is a gear cop-out.
  • Extinction / no revive — if the floor kills your only healer, a revive set does nothing. Bring a second healer or kill faster.
  • Poison floors — Kiris. Do not “out-gear” a Kiris floor with a DPS who cannot apply the stacks.

Daydream Joker, Song of Stars, Magaraha’s Tome, Rod of Amaryllis, and Aurius cover most of the climb. Specific holders and substitutes are on artifacts. Do not plus-15 a PvP-only artifact to brute-force floor 80.

Gear: Hunt first, Abyss second

Abyss does not drop the Speed sets you need to finish Abyss. Wyvern Hunt does. Gear rules still apply: Speed boots, no flat-main jewelry, extract junk, stop rolling at +6 if Speed never appeared. If a floor feels impossible, check whether your cleanser is slower than the boss’s first skill. A 20 Speed gap is a different fight than “I need a limited.”

When you fail:

  1. Read the mechanic again.
  2. Swap in Kiris or Iseria before you swap in a random 5-star.
  3. Move the best HP set onto the unit who is dying, not onto the DPS.
  4. If you still fail after two targeted tries, park the floor. Queue Otherworldly Hunt. Come back in three days with 15 more Speed on the opener.

Stalling on one floor for a week is how people burn Leifs and then have no Hunt gear for the next wall either.

A sane floor plan

  • 1–50 — story units and Connections. Auto a lot of it. Collect the tickets.
  • 51–80 — introduce Iseria, a real healer, and Hunt boots. This is where Specialty Change Montmorancy earns her keep.
  • 81–90 — first real scripts. Watch a floor guide for the specific boss; do not invent a six-unit theorycraft.
  • 91–100 — five-unit swap territory. 92 is a common first “mechanics matter” wall (Tywin-style). 96–100 are the stretch the 2026 five-unit videos cover (Bellona, Destina/Ruele, and company). 99 is slower than 100 for a lot of rosters.
  • 101+ — treat each floor as optional content. Tamarinne plus a modern DPS (Brieg, Frieren, whoever you actually own) starts to matter. Do not skip Hunt to live here.

You will not 1–120 in the first week, and you do not need to. Abyss is a chest every time you solve a script, not a leaderboard. Park a stuck floor, go let Background Battling print Speed boots, and walk back in with the same five units on better gear. The tower rewards the account that leaves and returns, not the account that hammers retry on a mechanic it has not read.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Heirs search for every patch.

Is Epic Seven Abyss a gear check?

Early floors are not. Mid floors are mechanic checks that become gear checks if you ignore Speed and Effectiveness. Farm Hunt when a wall lasts more than two serious tries.

Do I need Moonlight 5-stars to clear Abyss?

No. Connections units, Iseria, Kiris, and a Hunt DPS clear a long stretch. Moonlight Blessing (Ruele) is a luxury revive, not a gate.

Why do 2026 guides say five units?

Because you can swap one HP/Speed pile across Tamarinne, Iseria, and a flex revive. Building twelve half-sets is slower than moving one good set.

Should I use Kiris?

Yes on poison-vulnerable floors. She is a 3-star who deletes bosses people try to brute-force with a 5-star DPS.

What artifacts matter in Abyss?

Daydream Joker on DPS, Magaraha's Tome or Rod of Amaryllis on the healer, Song of Stars on Iseria. See artifacts for substitutes.
