Dimensional Exploration in Epic Seven

Announced at INFINITY, not a 27 August lobby button. Three heroes, three tags, unlimited attempts when it ships.

Dimensional Exploration

Dimensional Exploration is Epic Seven’s first official permanent roguelike PvE. The INFINITY showcase on 22 August 2026 announced it. The 27 August client did not ship the button. Producer Tak Kwang-jin said it will grow into a mode that uses the many worlds inside Epic Seven — settings like “Conqueror of the Ocean” or “Flawless City” — with systems and story events per theme. Until Smilegate posts a go-live date, treat this page as a kit preview, not a farm route. If a YouTuber titled a video as if you can enter today, they are showing Call of Chaos or a Hunt repeat.

What was actually shown

You form a 3-hero team. You pick special effects through Expedition Supplies. You can assign up to three additional heroes to tag slots and swap them in mid-run, for up to seven usable heroes total. Attempts are unlimited. There is no entry currency. That last line is the whole pitch: Smilegate has ~400 heroes and only ~100 see real content. Roguelike rules let leftover names work for a run without a 280 Speed set.

The first season is themed around the Chaos Zero Nightmare collab. Renoa, Haru, and Mei Lin crash-land through a Chaos Gate; Dimensional Exploration is the PvE track that sits next to that story. Collab events (Epione Center in Witchaven, Delang’s shop) are timers. Dimensional Exploration is supposed to stay after the timers die. Do not spend a limited Haru pity because you thought the roguelike required her. Read Chaos Zero Nightmare for the banners. Come back here for the mode that is still “later.”

How it is supposed to play

A run is a 3-man start plus tags, not a 4-man Hunt clear. Supplies replace the gear grind for that run. That is why underbuilt heroes can still contribute: the run buffs them. When the mode is live, the correct habit is:

  1. Park your Hunt team. Do not strip Speed boots off Sigret to staff a roguelike.
  2. Bring one soul weaver you already understand and two names you never built.
  3. Fill tag slots with experiments, not your only RTA opener.
  4. Read Expedition Supplies before the first node. A damage supply on a soul weaver is a wasted node.
  5. Stop when the run is done. There is no entry ticket to “save.” Unlimited attempts means you can leave.

Gear score and auto-sell do not apply inside a roguelike inventory. Hunt still pays the Speed sets you wear everywhere else.

Why Smilegate built it

Tak said Call of Chaos (PvP) and Dimensional Exploration (PvE) both use roguelike rules because the roster is too large for one meta. That is a design note, not a promise that your 3-star will clear Abyss 100. Call of Chaos is already live. This mode is the PvE twin that has not opened. Mixing the two in a team-building spreadsheet is how you waste molas.

The 8th anniversary article is the patch dump. This page exists so Dimensional Exploration does not get buried under Luna’s bunny skin. When Super Creative names the first season in-client, add that name here and leave Paradise Lost alone.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Heirs search for every patch.

Can I play Dimensional Exploration today?

No. It was announced 22 August 2026 and did not ship with the 27 August client. Wait for an official go-live date.

Does it cost a ticket?

Announced as unlimited attempts with no entry currency. Confirm on the live screen when it opens.

Is it the Chaos Zero Nightmare event?

The first season is themed around that collab. Banners and shops sit on the CZN page. The roguelike is supposed to stay after.

Should I build unused heroes for it now?

No. Keep Hunt gear on Hunt units. Tag slots exist so leftovers can work without a full build.
