Epic Seven Gear, Sets, and Equipment Score

Speed from Wyvern, how to read equipment score, and the 8th anniversary auto-sell tools.

Epic Seven Gear and Equipment

Heroes do not clear Epic Seven. Gear does. A mid-tier unit on a 20-speed Speed set outruns a limited DPS in story boots. This page is the filter: which sets to farm, which main stats to keep, how equipment score tells you to stop rolling, and how the 8th anniversary auto-sell / extract tools stop your inventory from drowning. Pair it with the hunt guide for the actual farm, and with the gear score tool when you want a number instead of a vibe.

If you just installed, finish getting started and get one Wyvern clear before you open the enhance screen in anger. Early story gear is a loan. Rolling it to +15 is how accounts go broke.

Combat Readiness is the stat

Turns happen when a unit’s Combat Readiness hits 100. Speed feeds CR. Going first is how defense breaks land, how cleanses beat unbuffable, and how Hunt one-shots even exist. That is why Speed set (4-piece, +25% Speed) from Wyvern is the first farm for almost every PvE and PvP unit. Hit set (2-piece) rides along for debuffers. Immunity (2-piece) is the PvP pair once you have the Speed 4. Counter, Lifesteal, Destruction, and Health are real sets — they are not the first month.

Speed tuning (your opener 1 faster than the follow-up, your Hunt Furious faster than Muwi) is a separate skill. Use the speed tuning tool after you own two Speed pieces with actual Speed rolls, not before.

Slots and main stats

Left side (weapon, helmet, armor) always rolls Attack / Health / Defense as the main. You pick with substats. Right side is where people brick accounts:

SlotKeepSell or extract
NecklaceCrit Chance or Crit Damage for DPS; Health % for tanksFlat Attack / Health / Defense
RingAttack % (DPS), Health % or Defense % (tanks), Effectiveness (debuffers)Flat mains
BootsSpeed for almost everyoneAttack % boots unless the unit is a dedicated bruiser who already has 250 Speed from subs

Percent mains beat flats on necklace, ring, and boots. Flats on those slots are 30–40% worse. Extract them. Do not “maybe roll it.”

Speed on a substat is the exception that beats a clean-looking piece. A Speed-set armor with 4 Speed at +0 is a roll. A Destruction necklace with 0 Speed and two flat stats is dust.

Equipment score

Every piece carries an equipment score. The number is the game’s way of saying how dense the rolls are. Main stat starts around 5 score at +0 and climbs as you enhance. Each substat roll adds more; Speed, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage are worth more per point than flat Attack. That is why a red (Legendary) piece with garbage flats can lose to a purple (Heroic) piece that hit Speed three times.

Practical filters for 2026 Hunt drops:

  • At +0: lock Speed-set pieces with 3–4 Speed, or any piece already at a high starting score (high 20s purple, low 30s red). Everything else hits auto-sell / extract.
  • At +3 / +6: if Speed did not roll and the score is still low, stop. Charms are the bottleneck, not inventory slots.
  • At +15: mid-game keepers start around 90+ score for general PvE. Hunt one-shot pieces and PvP boots go much higher. Otherworldly Hunt exists specifically to drop those high-score bases.

Sort the inventory by equipment score. If a piece looks “good” but sits 15 points below the rest of the slot, it is not good. The gear score tool is for comparing two keepers, not for justifying a +15 on a 40-score ring.

Auto-sell, extract, and Background Battling

The 8th anniversary turned Repeat Battling into Background Battling: offline Hunt using your fastest Battle-Pet clear, up to 100 Leifs queued, with automatic equipment sale and extraction applied to the pile. Configure the filter before you queue.

Recommended starting filter:

  • Keep Otherworldly pieces (do not auto-destroy the whole reason you entered Otherworldly).
  • Keep Speed-set armor with 3+ Speed.
  • Auto-extract boots always — conversion material for crafting is worth more than gold on that slot.
  • Auto-extract or sell flat-main necklace and ring.
  • Auto-sell rare (blue) and below.
  • Raise the minimum score as your average inventory climbs. A 30-score lock on day seven is a 50-score lock three months later.

Extract versus sell: extract when you need crafting mats for that slot (boots, then rings and necks). Sell when you need gold and the piece is the wrong set. Never sell a Speed boot “because it is only purple.”

An Equipment Charm Payback event ran with the anniversary (Greater Universal Equipment Charm Selection Chests refunded against EXP you already spent). If that event is still on your lobby, enhance during it. If it ended, stop gambling +12s on pieces you already decided were dead.

Where the sets actually drop

  • Wyvern — Speed, Hit, Critical, Immunity. First farm. Always.
  • Golem — Health, Defense, Attack, Counter (older tables; Counter also moved around with Ogre Hunt).
  • Banshee — Destruction, Lifesteal, Resist, Unity.
  • Azimanak / Caides — later specialty sets. Do not start here.
  • Otherworldly Hunt — same set families as the parent Hunt, but higher equipment-score bases and Otherworldly-tagged pieces. This is the 2026 farm once you can enter.
  • Ogre Hunt (anniversary revamp of Ogre’s Armory, folded into the Hunt menu) — Revenge, Counter, Opening, Pursuit. Farm it when you are building PvP Counter units, not when you still lack Speed boots.

Rift was pulled for a rework during the anniversary pass. Do not follow 2025 “Rift vs Hunt” charts as if Rift is still the weekday farm.

Artifacts are not gear, but they fake it

Daydream Joker is the Hunt staple: damage based on the enemy’s max Health. Put it on Sigret, Alexa, Muwi, and most Hunt DPS before you chase a 5-star artifact. Magaraha’s Tome, Rod of Amaryllis, Aurius, and Song of Stars are the other early names. Builds and substitutes live on artifacts. A unit on the PvE tier list with Joker and Speed boots will clear more than a naked limited.

What not to do

Do not six-piece a unit in mixed leftover sets “for the CP number.” CP is not a win condition. Do not reforge level 85 junk; reforging is for 88+ pieces you already decided to keep. Do not roll two Speed checks on the same night you also roll Destruction jewelry — pick a session (Speed check or score check) so you do not burn the charm stack with mixed rules.

The inventory lock is the real skill. A locked 18-Speed boot you never “just sold for gold” will still be on your Arena opener a year later. Everything else is a crafting mat waiting to happen. Queue Background Battling, let auto-extract chew the flats, and only touch the enhance button for pieces that already passed the Speed or score filter. That habit, not a lucky red drop, is what a geared Epic Seven account actually is.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Heirs search for every patch.

Which Hunt should I farm for gear first?

Wyvern, for Speed sets. Switch to Otherworldly Wyvern when you can enter it for higher equipment-score drops. See the hunt guide.

What equipment score should I keep?

Early on, lock high starting scores and any Speed-set piece with 3–4 Speed. Mid-game +15 keepers often start around 90+ score. Use the gear score tool to compare.

Should I sell or extract boots?

Extract boots. The crafting material is more valuable than the gold, especially on Speed-set Speed mains.

Do I still roll story equipment?

No. Get one Hunt clear, then only enhance Hunt and Otherworldly drops that pass your filter.

Why is Speed on boots mandatory?

Combat Readiness is the turn order. Speed boots are the cheapest way to take turns first in Hunt, Abyss, and Arena.
