Epic Seven Gear Reforge and Crafting

Reforge is the system that lets you spend resources to add or improve substats on a piece of gear. It is the cleanest way to push a single piece of gear above the 90 gear score threshold that Hunt, Hell Raid, and Automaton Tower expect. Reforge is not a Hunt farm. It is the late-game upgrade loop that turns a piece with the right main stat into a piece with the right substat roll.

The 2026 anniversary added the annual Crafting Event, which lets you choose a piece’s main stat, substat, set, and even enhancement level. The Crafting Event runs once a year and is the cleanest source of gear score in the game. What reforge does

A reforge consumes:

• Gold (always).
• Reforge hammers (the rare resource, paid for by charms).
• A piece of gear with a roll history (you cannot reforge a brand-new piece; the piece must have been enhanced at least once).

Each reforge attempt re-rolls one substat at random within its stat range. A piece can be reforged up to three times. The fourth reforge is a special “perfect roll” attempt that costs more resources but guarantees the substat lands in the top 25% of its range.

After reforge, the piece’s gear score recalculates based on the new substat values. Reforge is the only way to push a piece above score 90 without rerolling the entire piece.

When to reforge

Reforge a piece when all three of these are true:

1. The piece has the right main stat (Speed on boots, Attack% on weapon, HP% on chest).
2. The piece’s set matches the build (Speed set on a DPS, Hit set on a debuffer, etc.).
3. The piece is on a hero you actually use.

If any of those three conditions is false, reforge is wasted. A Speed substat roll on a tank ring does not help a DPS. A high-roll on a wrong-set piece does not fit any build. Reforge is expensive; do not throw hammers at pieces you are not committed to.

Substat priorities by hero role

For Hunt DPS (Sigret, Alexa, Muwi):

• Speed (always — the +1 reforge target on boots).
• Critical hit chance (until 100% with buff).
• Critical hit damage.
• Attack %.

For Soul Weavers (Tamarinne, Angelica):

• Speed (until the team is tuned).
• HP %.
• Effect resistance (if the hero needs to live through strip).
• Defense % (a soft fourth choice).

For Knights (Fallen Cecilia, Aurius holders):

• HP %.
• Defense %.
• Speed (until tuned).
• Effect resistance.

For Bruiser DPS (Luna, Specter Tenebria):

• HP %.
• Defense %.
• Speed.
• Attack %.

Reforge order matters. Speed first because Speed is the bottleneck for everything else. Critical chance next for DPS. HP and defense for tanks and bruisers. Do not reforge substat four on a DPS until substats one and two are perfect.

The gear score threshold

The in-client gear score is the weighted average of a piece’s substats. Common thresholds:

• Score 70: average Hunt drop. Enough for early Hunt clears.
• Score 80: solid mid-game gear. Enough for Expedition 5.
• Score 85: late-game gear. Enough for Hunt Hell difficulty.
• Score 90: top-tier gear. Required for Hell Raid Decay and Automaton Tower floor 60+.
• Score 95+: god-tier. Reforge + perfect rolls + the Crafting Event.

Most players live in the 70–85 range for years. Score 90+ is the realm of dedicated grinders and Crafting Event winners.

The 2026 Crafting Event

The anniversary Crafting Event is the cleanest source of gear score in Epic Seven. It runs once a year (around the 8th anniversary window in 2026). During the event:

1. Spend event currency to enter the crafting menu.
2. Choose a set (Speed, Hit, Destruction, Counter, Immunity, etc.).
3. Choose a slot (weapon, helmet, armor, necklace, ring, boot).
4. Choose the main stat.
5. Choose three substats from a fixed pool.
6. Choose the enhancement level (a reforge-like roll range).
7. The crafted piece is rolled with the chosen parameters.

A veteran crafts a Speed-set boot with Speed main stat, Speed substat, Critical hit chance substat, and a high enhancement level. The result is a piece that scores 90+ on first roll. The catch is event currency — only one or two such pieces per veteran, because the currency is capped.

The Crafting Event is the single most efficient use of reforge hammers. If you have hammers, save them for the event and craft the piece you have been chasing for a year.

What not to do

• Reforge a piece with the wrong main stat. A perfect roll on a Defense% weapon does not help a DPS. Replace the piece.
• Reforge a piece you are not using. Sitting on a reforged piece in the inventory is wasted hammers.
• Reforge four substats before substats one and two are perfect. The marginal value of substat three is small if substat one is still mid-roll.
• Skip the Crafting Event. Annual event. If you have hammers, this is the time.

Cross-link checklist
