Hwayoung Hero Build

Hwayoung is the Fire 5-star Warrior summonable from the Covenant pool, with a sidestory Drop Rate Up banner behind The Will of the Strong. Her kit is short, repeatable, and tuned for the RTA first-turn contest. S1 Supersonic Kick is a single-target execute that adds bonus damage proportional to her Attack; soulburn turns it into a delete button. S3 Monarch’s Flaming Strike is a defense-piercing nuke that ignores Effect Resistance when soulburned. S2 Prairie Hawk is the bruiser glue: she takes less crit damage, cannot crit herself, and gains an Attack buff on every clean turn. She is on the PvP ranks and the Hunt rotation counter-list because she is the unit Hwayoung players ban first in their own drafts. Full numbers live on epic7db.com; the build math below is from the September 2026 Fribbels optimizer data and the E7RTAStats ladder pulls.

Hwayoung’s kit has three ideas stacked: she converts Attack into a percentage execute (S1), she pierces Defense when she out-attacks the target (S3), and she self-buffs on every clean turn (S2). The combination is what makes the soulburn S3 land on tankier Bruiser slots without needing debuff support. Bring a faster soul weaver, an Immunity buffer, and a CR push — Hwayoung takes the second turn and the kill.

Why Hwayoung is back on the 2026 RTA short list

The May 2026 balance pass restored her S1 soulburn execute and adjusted her S3 scaling so it does not require a defense-break opener. The September 2026 Astranox +15 PvP build on YouTube documented a 280 Speed Bruiser variant that uses S1 soulburn to one-shot Light or Fire Knight targets without any debuff support, then pivots to S3 for the second turn of cleanup. That is the build the ladder is using in Champion and above, and it is the build this page assumes. The earlier “wait for the debuff” play pattern is dead.

Skill kit

S3 — Monarch’s Flaming Strike (4-turn, +2 souls)

Attacks with a secret technique, then grants 2-turn immunity plus a barrier to the caster. When her Attack exceeds the target’s Attack, she pierces Defense, with the penetration rate scaling proportionally to the difference (up to 100% penetration). Barrier strength scales with Attack. Soulburn (-10 souls) ignores Effect Resistance on the defense break (the debuff landed in earlier patches; modern kits have the effect on the caster’s S2 passive instead).

This is the nuke. The piercing-Defense mechanic means Hwayoung does not need a defense-break opener to kill tankier targets; she just needs more Attack than the slot she is hitting. Soulburn turns the S3 into a single-target boss kill.

S2 — Prairie Hawk (passive)

Cannot crit. Takes 30% less damage from crits at base (up to ~38% when fully skilled). At the start of every turn where she has no debuff, she gains an Attack buff for 1 turn. The crit-immunity passive keeps her alive against cleave drafts; the Attack-on-clean-turn passive is the kit’s tempo engine.

S1 — Supersonic Kick (no cooldown, +1 soul)

Single-target kick that deals bonus damage proportional to her Attack. Soulburn (-10 souls) pushes the execute threshold so the S1 deletes anything below ~70% HP without a defense break. The S1 is the soulburn button you save for the cleanup turn.

Stat priority

Hwayoung is a Bruiser-style Attack carry. The stat priority is Attack%, Critical Damage, Speed, HP%, Effect Resistance.

  • Attack%: target 3,800–4,200 effective Attack. The S3 penetration scales off raw Attack, and the S1 soulburn execute scales off raw Attack.
  • Critical Damage: target 200%+. She cannot crit herself (S2 passive) but her S1 and S3 still respect the stat for any ally-triggered effects.
  • Speed: target 270–290 in the Astranox PvP variant. Hwayoung wants turn 1 or turn 2. She is not a 180 bruiser; she is a 280 bruiser.
  • HP%: target 14,000–16,000 HP. She takes less crit damage but she still has to live long enough to land the second turn.
  • Effect Resistance: target 80–120. Stops a strip from removing the S2 Attack buff.

Artifacts: Elbris is the Bruiser default for the extra turn cycling. Dust Devil is the dedicated Bruiser artifact. Daydream Joker does not belong on Hwayoung — she is not a Hunt DPS.

Skill-ups

S3 first — Monarch’s Flaming Strike is the defense-piercing kit. Skill-ups raise the barrier strength and damage scaling. S2 next — Prairie Hawk’s damage reduction caps at higher skill levels. S1 last — Supersonic Kick scales linearly with Attack and does not benefit as much from skill-ups.

MolaGora budget: dump into S3 until +6. +15 if she is your RTA carry. S2 to +3 for the damage reduction cap. S1 is +3 filler.

Team fit

Hwayoung fits the same first-turn contest that Perfumer Byblis and Lisette anchor, but she brings single-target execute instead of team utility. The 2026 RTA templates:

  • Bruiser cleave: Hwayoung + Aurius Knight + faster soul weaver + CR push. Hwayoung takes the second turn of the cleave and S1-soulburns the kill target.
  • Bruiser counter: Hwayoung + Injury Knight + AoE soul weaver + dps. Hwayoung sits in the back row, takes the enemy cleave on her S2 passive, then S3-soulburns the carry.
  • Bruiser stall: Hwayoung + tankier soul weaver + Aurius Knight + dps. Hwayoung waits for the enemy team to burn their cleave, then executes the survivors.

She is not a Hunt unit. She is not a Hunt execute. She is not a replacement for Salome in Hell Raid or Expeditions. For PvP she is on the short list of 280 Speed Bruiser carries.

Counters to Hwayoung

Hwayoung is strong but not uncounterable.

  • Effect Resistance strip: a faster soul weaver with a strip can remove the S2 Attack buff before she takes her second turn.
  • First-turn burst before her S2 stacks: she does not gain Attack on the entry turn if she takes a debuff, so a defense-break cleave can land before her Attack buff is up.
  • Aurius + Counter Knight: an Aurius Knight with a Counter set reflects a portion of her execute damage back. She wins the damage race but loses the HP race.
  • Skill nullifier on S3: if a soul weaver lands a skill nullifier before her soulburn S3 resolves, the cast is interrupted. Bring an Immunity buffer or a faster soul weaver.

What not to do

  • Do not put Daydream Joker on Hwayoung. It is a Hunt DPS artifact. She is a Bruiser execute carry.
  • Do not build her as a slow Bruiser. The 280 Speed Astranox build is the ladder build. A 180 Speed Hwayoung is a sidestory farmer.
  • Do not use her in Hunt 13. She is not a Hunt DPS. The Hunt core wants Sigret, Furious, Alexa, and a soul weaver.
  • Do not skip S3 molas. S3 is the entire damage kit.

Hwayoung is the 2026 Bruiser execute for Arena and RTA. The PvP ranks rank her High Pick on the Bruiser counter archetype. The Arena guide covers Immunity versus Counter sets; the artifacts page lists the Bruiser artifacts. If you have already built your Hunt core and your soul-weaver core, Hwayoung is the next Bruiser carry to skill for RTA.

The Hwayoung kit was last verified against epic7db.com on 2 September 2026. Build math uses the September 2026 Fribbels optimizer data. YouTube reference: Astranox’s +15 PvP build video (id xKxt98E4L5E).

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Heirs search for every patch.

Is Hwayoung worth pulling in 2026?

Yes if you play RTA or Champion Arena. She is a 280 Speed Bruiser execute with a soulburn S3 that pierces Defense. Hunt-only accounts can skip — see Hunt 13 build.

What artifact does Hwayoung want?

Elbris for the extra turn cycling, Dust Devil for the dedicated Bruiser artifact. Do not put Daydream Joker on her — she is not a Hunt DPS.

Is Hwayoung good in PvE?

She is a PvP carry. The 2026 PvE bruiser slot belongs to Salome for HP-scaling damage. Bring Hwayoung to RTA and Champion Arena, not Hunt or Expeditions.

What stats does Hwayoung need?

Attack% (3,800–4,200 effective Attack), Critical Damage (200%+), Speed (270–290), HP% (14,000–16,000), Effect Resistance (80–120). The Astranox +15 PvP build on YouTube is the ladder reference.
