Ogre Hunt Guide

Ogre Hunt is a Hunt discipline folded into the main Hunt system as part of the 8th anniversary update on 27 August 2026. Previously called Ogre’s Armory, it was a standalone Rift-style content that dropped the old Rift sets. The anniversary merged it into Hunt proper with an Otherworldly difficulty tier and a six-slot formation instead of the standard four. It drops Reversal, Riposte, Warfare, and Pursuit — the four sets that used to come from Rift before Rift was suspended for rework.

The six-slot formation is the immediate mechanical change: Hunt has always been four slots, and adding two more means the game now asks you to bring six heroes to Ogre Hunt specifically. The team construction is wider than Wyvern, which means different stat priorities and different unit choices.

What Ogre Hunt drops

SetPiecesStat FocusWho wants it
Reversal2-piece: Counterattack when hitHP / DefenseKnights, bruisers, RTA defense
Riposte2-piece: Extra attack after being hitAttack / CritThieves, Rangers, openers
Warfare2-piece: Increases damage dealt to enemies with lower HP%Attack %Execute carries, cleavers
Pursuit2-piece: Extra attack after an ally’s attackSpeed / Crit DamageSpeed openers, dual-attack chains

These are exclusively PvP sets. If you are building a Wyvern 13 one-shot team, ignore Ogre Hunt entirely. If you are building RTA openers, Arena defense, or Guild War bruisers, Ogre Hunt is the source.

Six-slot formation strategy

The expanded formation means you can run two tanks, two DPS, and two support or flex units instead of the one-tank-three-DPS Wyvern core. The Ogre boss hits harder than Wyvern and has different damage patterns, so the frontline survivability matters more than raw damage output.

Standard template:

  • Slot 1 (front, tank): Knight with Aurius — Genesis Ras, Adventurer Ras, or a built Knight
  • Slot 2 (front, bruiser): HP-scaling bruiser — Salome, Apocalypse Ravi, or Genesis Ras himself
  • Slot 3 (back, DPS): Primary damage dealer — Sigret or a specialist
  • Slot 4 (back, DPS): Secondary damage or control unit
  • Slot 5 (flex): Soul weaver or support
  • Slot 6 (flex): Flex counter or survival unit

The two extra slots let you bring a dedicated soul weaver alongside the tank instead of fitting everything into four slots. If your Wyvern team already has Angelica and Sigret, those two can move to Ogre Hunt with four new slots filled around them.

Rift replacement schedule

Rift content was suspended on 27 August 2026 as part of the anniversary. The old advice to farm Rift on weekdays is dead. Ogre Hunt on Otherworldly difficulty is the replacement source for those four sets. Do not go back to Rift routines — the content is not there.

When to farm Ogre Hunt

After Wyvern Speed is automatic. The Speed sets from Wyvern are what make every other content possible, including the compositions you run inside Ogre Hunt itself. A Sigret on 18-Speed boots with Daydream Joker is still the first investment; Ogre Hunt is the second investment after the core Hunt team is stable.

Do not split energy between Wyvern and Ogre Hunt on a new or returning account. Wyvern first, then Ogre. The gear from Wyvern funds the team that then clears Ogre. Reversal and Riposte sets are only useful if you have the heroes to put them on, and those heroes need Speed sets from Wyvern to function.

Otherworldly difficulty

Enter Ogre Hunt on Otherworldly difficulty as soon as your six-slot team survives a run. Otherworldly drops higher equipment-score gear than the classic difficulty, just like Otherworldly Wyvern. The stat thresholds are higher, but the fight logic is the same. If the team fails, drop back to classic, fix Speed and survivability, then go back up.

The Ogre boss in Otherworldly has increased damage and tighter enrage timers compared to the classic version. Fails that would loop on classic now actually fail on Otherworldly — patch 1.0.951 specifically pulled in the enrage timer by one turn to make stalled runs end properly instead of cycling indefinitely.

Ogre Hunt drops sets for Arena, Guild War, and RTA compositions. The Hunt guide covers the Wyvern core that funds Ogre Hunt investments. The gear guide explains how to evaluate Otherworldly drops.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers Heirs search for every patch.

What does Ogre Hunt drop?

Reversal, Riposte, Warfare, and Pursuit sets on Otherworldly difficulty. These replaced the old Rift sets.

How is Ogre Hunt different from Wyvern?

Six-slot formation instead of four, different boss mechanics, and PvP-focused set drops. Wyvern drops Speed set for every other mode; Ogre Hunt drops sets for Arena, RTA, and Guild War.

When should I start farming Ogre Hunt?

After Wyvern Speed is automatic and your Hunt core is stable. Wyvern funds everything else, including the team that clears Ogre.

Is Rift still available?

No. Rift was suspended on 27 August 2026 as part of the anniversary. Ogre Hunt on Otherworldly difficulty is the replacement source for those four sets.

What is the six-slot formation in Ogre Hunt?

Hunt expanded from four slots to six for Ogre Hunt specifically. You bring two tanks or bruisers instead of one, plus two DPS and two flex or support units.
