Epic Seven Notos, God of Battle
Moonlight 5-star Light Knight - dual-state (God of Battle / base), Sanctuary of Battle field, and the March 2026 World Arena meta.
Notos is the Light 5-star Moonlight Knight released on 20 March 2026 as the final boss of the Monolith Showdown PvE content. He is the last of the Machine Guardians - ancient constructs that protected the ancient civilization - now awakened as a playable hero. He holds the titles God of Battle and God of Machines, reflecting his dual-state nature: a base form that cycles Combat Readiness and a transformed God of Battle state that creates a no-buff arena. His S3 is the most disruptive skill in the 2026 kit roster: it creates the Sanctuary of Battle, a field where every hero on the field becomes immune to buffs and debuffs for its duration, shutting down Diene, Perfumer Byblis, Lisette, and every other buff-stacking composition in the game. Why Notos matters in 2026
The 2026 RTA and Arena meta settled heavily on buff-stacking compositions: Diene’s team-wide immortality, Perfumer Byblis’s barriers, and Lisette’s Time Reversal all depend on buff duration and application. Notos’s S3 removes that axis of gameplay entirely for three turns. The Sanctuary of Battle field is not a debuff - it is a zone effect that applies the same immunity rule to both teams. No one gets buffs. No one gets debuffs. That includes Notos himself, which means he cannot be stripped or Cleansed during the Sanctuary window, but also cannot receive his own Ferocious Stand or other self-buffs.
He is a Moonlight unit, which makes him expensive to acquire via Galaxy Summons. The alternative path is the Moonlight Blessing lobby quest - borrow him for free, complete the attached missions, and lock him permanently. That is the 2026 F2P way to own a Moonlight 5-star tank without spending bookmarks.
Dual-state mechanic
Notos has two distinct forms with different stat spreads and ability modifiers:
Base form (God of Machines) - higher base Defense and Effect Resistance, lower HP. The passive S2 makes him unaffected by Combat Readiness increase and decrease effects, which means he cannot be pushed or pulled by CR mechanics. This makes him a natural anchor against standard CR-push openers.
God of Battle form - activated by S3 for 3 turns. Higher base Attack and HP. All of his skills change: S1 and S2 deal additional damage proportional to max Health, and the battlefield becomes the Sanctuary of Battle. The form cannot be dispelled - S3 grants it as a self-applied buff.
The transformation is temporary (3 turns) but the Sanctuary of Battle field persists for the full duration regardless of whether Notos is alive or transformed. If Notos dies during God of Battle, the field remains active until the duration expires.
Skill kit
S3 - God’s Might (8-turn, +3 souls)
Grants God of Battle to Notos for 3 turns and fully recovers his Health. While God of Battle is active, the battlefield becomes the Sanctuary of Battle - all Heroes on the field become immune to buffs and debuffs for the duration. The skill also begins the first battle with full skill cooldown (all skills off cooldown at battle start).
The Sanctuary of Battle is the centrepiece mechanic. It shuts down:
- Diene’s team-wide immortality (the immortality is a buff)
- Perfumer Byblis’s barriers (barriers applied as buffs)
- Lisette’s Time Reversal (requires buffs to reset)
- Any team running injury, counter, or dual-attack setups that rely on debuff application
The cost is that Notos cannot benefit from his own Ferocious Stand or other self-buffs during the window. Draft him as a counter-pick, not a blind first pick.
S2 - Blaze of Battle (2-turn, +1 soul)
In base form: unaffected by Combat Readiness increase and decrease effects. This is the passive that makes Notos immune to CR manipulation - he cannot be pushed forward by ally CR boosts and cannot be pushed back by enemy CR reductions.
In God of Battle form: attacks the enemy with transcendent power, dealing damage proportional to the caster’s max Health. Soulburn (-10 souls) increases damage dealt.
S1 - Divinity Release (no cooldown, +1 soul)
In base form: attacks the enemy with divinity, has a 75% chance to inflict decreased Defense for 1 turn. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health.
In God of Battle form: attacks the enemy and deals additional damage proportional to the caster’s max Health.
Stat priority
Notos is a dual-state defensive Knight with an S3 zone disruption. The stat priority depends on the form you are building for:
- HP%: both forms scale damage with max Health. Target 15,000+ HP in God of Battle form for meaningful S1/S2 damage.
- Defense%: base form scales with Defense. Target 1,200+ Defense for the passive tankiness.
- Effect Resistance: critical for Arena and RTA. If Notos is affected by unbuffable before casting S3, the Sanctuary of Battle never activates. Target 40–60% Effect Resistance.
- Speed: not the primary stat - S2 makes him immune to CR manipulation, so Speed tuning is less important than for other tanks.
Artifacts: Aurius is the default Knight artifact for front-row damage sharing. Proof of Valor is the alternative for emergency barrier protection. Rod of Amaryllis can work for the extra healing on S3 if your team lacks sustain. Do not use Daydream Joker - it is a Hunt artifact.
Skill-ups
S3 first - God’s Might is the kit. +6 minimum for the cooldown reduction. S2 next - the CR immunity passive is what makes him viable against standard openers. S1 last - the Defense break is useful but secondary.
MolaGora budget: S3 +6, S2 +3, S1 +3 is the standard Notos investment. +15 if he is your primary Arena / RTA tank.
Team fit
Notos fits defensive and stall compositions in RTA and Arena defense:
- Anti-buff stall: Notos + Diene + bruiser + bruiser. Notos shuts down enemy buffs with Sanctuary of Battle, your team survives the window, the bruisers finish.
- Standard defense: Notos + Soul Weaver + two DPS. Notos anchors the frontline and his S3 clears the board of buffs before your follow-up acts.
- GW defense: Notos is a strong pick against teams that rely on buff stacking. His S3 is the equivalent of a free ban on Diene and Byblis.
He is not a Hunt unit. He is not a fast cleave opener. He is a disruption tank whose job is to cancel the enemy’s buff game plan.
Counters to Notos
- Unbuffable before S3: if you apply Unable to be Buffed before Notos casts S3, God of Battle never activates and Sanctuary of Battle never spawns. Bring a strip unit.
- Heavy AoE before transformation: Notos is vulnerable in his base form. A fast cleave that drops him before S3 is live removes the disruption before it fires.
- ** injury and counter**: during the base form, injury and counter procs still work normally. Bruisers that stack injury will burn through Notos before S3.
- Long fights: the Sanctuary of Battle only lasts 3 turns. If the enemy can survive 3 turns without relying on buffs, Notos becomes a regular Knight after the field expires.
What not to do
- Do not blind first-pick Notos. He is a counter-pick against buff-heavy compositions. First-pick him into Diene, Byblis, or Lisette.
- Do not put Daydream Joker on Notos. It is a Hunt artifact. He is not a Hunt unit.
- Do not build him as a speed tank. His S2 makes him immune to CR manipulation - Speed is a wasted stat on Notos.
- Do not forget he is Moonlight. Galaxy Summons for Notos are expensive. Use the Moonlight Blessing if you want a free ML5 tank.
Cross-link checklist
Notos is the 2026 Moonlight Knight disruption pick for Arena and RTA. The Moonlight tier list has him ranked as a top-10 ML5 for the anti-buff archetype. The heroes hub is the map; this page is the March 2026 addition that belongs on it.
Notos’s kit was verified against Epic7DB.com, VortexGaming analysis, and the official Epic Seven YouTube review (id above) published March 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers Heirs search for every patch.
What is the Sanctuary of Battle on Notos?
An S3 field effect that makes all Heroes immune to buffs and debuffs for 3 turns. It shuts down Diene's immortality, Perfumer Byblis's barriers, and Lisette's Time Reversal. It is a zone, not a buff - it affects both teams equally.
Is Notos a good tank in Epic Seven?
Yes for the right matchup. He is a disruption tank against buff-heavy compositions. For general use, he competes with Belian, Celestial Mercedes, and Fallen Cecilia as the front-row anchor. His S2 CR immunity makes him uniquely resistant to CR-push openers.
How do I get Notos for free?
Notos is a Moonlight unit. The F2P path is the Moonlight Blessing lobby quest - borrow a Moonlight 5-star from a rotating pool, complete the attached missions, and lock him permanently. The alternative is spending Galaxy bookmarks or waiting for a Moonlight selector.
What does God of Battle form do on Notos?
God of Battle is a 3-turn transformation activated by S3. In this form, all of Notos's skills change to deal additional damage proportional to his max Health, and the Sanctuary of Battle field activates. The form cannot be dispelled. It expires after 3 turns.
